The Whitehouse Independent School District School Board met on Monday, November 10, 2014 at Holloway Sixth Grade School. Travis Splinter, Holloway Principal, welcomed the group to the campus.

Jacob Smith, a Whitehouse High School student, described his role in the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) to Whitehouse Independent School Board Members during the audience portion of Monday’s School Board Meeting.

Smith is a member of Whitehouse FCCLA and serves as the National Vice-President of Finance for the National FCCLA student organization. He was given the opportunity to participate in a leadership academy event held in Virginia. Smith shared his experiences at the event and thanked the school board for their support and all they do for the District.

During the open forum of the board meeting, board members listened to a parent’s request for the District to consider adding wrestling to the WISD athletic program.

In other business during Monday’s meeting, board members:

Approved the minutes, financial reports, tax report and donations;

Approved the 2014 Certified Tax Roll;

Reviewed informational items, including new hires and resignations/terminations, and seasonal flu vaccinations.
